Fridays at Shinies
From September through to May, Shinies Home Education Club meet at Shinewater Community Centre in Milfoil Drive, Eastbourne, from 10 am until 1 pm.
The parents regularly get together to draw up a schedule of events, whether it be visiting speakers and workshops, or specific topic based activities. Each family then takes responsibility for bringing any necessary learning aids to that particular session.
Sometimes, nothing is planned, and it is left to each individual family to bring their own activities to share spontaneously!
A typical week's topic might be Tropical Junk, for example, whereby everyone brings along all their recycling - tins, tubs and tubes - with which our task is to create a caribbean tropical island!
