GARDENING CLUB ..................With Spring bulbs appearing and lambs frolicking, Shinies have decided to get in on the growing things act; we have a new gardening group starting up. Although not part of the main group we will be planning activities open to all home educators in Eastbourne and surrounding areas. There will be plenty of trips to gardens of note in the area and slightly further afield. We will also be bringing some seeds and planting equipment into Shinies so that each family can start their own mini garden in a pot. If anyone has any ideas or resources that they would like to share please contact Carol or Melissa on carol@carolpaulandsean.f9.co.uk or mel@hugelove1.demon.co.uk.
ONGOING PROJECTS INCLUDE:
TINY SHINIES .............Some info from Marcie on the planned new SHINIES toddler group –
“Anyone who would be interested please get in touch with me. All age groups will be welcome with activities for older kids provided, supervised on a rota system. Provisional timings are for Mondays for 3 hours from 11.30 to include a simple snack (toast and apple or similar). Provisional cost £2 per family. Trial run of 3 months to see how it goes and to check it will pay for itself (initial room hire £20 which will rise to £30 once properly established). Very much looking for feedback on all the above ideas with a view to getting up and running shortly after next parents meeting when more people can be there for input”
SHINIES+ YOUTH CLUB .......... We are looking into the possibility of running a youth club specifically for the older segment of children. This is very much in the early stages at the moment - speak to Paul and Alison if you have any brainwaves!
FLICKR .............online photo pool - http://www.flickr.com/groups/357933@N21/ Lots to see.
FRIENDS OVERSEAS .............continuing updates from the Killicks en France, and Carolyn, Cassian and Li-Chen in China.
